FRIENDS OF THE ENDOWMENT
The Puerto Rican Endowment for the Humanities’ Office of Council Conducted Projects, Resources and Services offers a series of programs to enrich the curriculum and the teaching of the humanities in Puerto Rico. Our objective is to highlight the value to society of understanding and interpreting the human experience.
The Friends of the Endowment program is intended to distribute more effectively the cultural products that are produced through the Office of Projects and, simultaneously, create a support network that establishes a source of funding for the development of humanities projects.
If you are interested in becoming a Friend of the Endowment, please contact the Endowment.
HUMANIST OF THE YEAR
The Endowment grants the Humanist of the Year award to individuals who have distinguished themselves, through their work, their teaching and other activities, by making significant contributions to the dissemination of the humanities. The selection of the Humanist of the Year takes place annually and the winner is recognized publicly in a ceremony in which he or she presents a lecture. This discourse is published and becomes part of the institution’s cultural resources.

SPEAKERS BUREAU
This program is aimed at promoting knowledge of the humanities in the public schools and the community in Puerto Rico by sponsoring lectures on humanities topics. These lectures are presented by humanities experts with excellent academic preparation and experience in their respective fields of study.
The Lecturers Program is divided into two parts:
- Conferences coordinated through the Endowment – The FPH has a speakers bureau of humanists who offer talks about a variety of topics in the schools, the community, municipal offices, cultural centers, etc.
- Conferences through the University Dialogues Program – Several universities in Puerto Rico have an agreement with the FPH to offer conferences in the public and private schools of their surrounding communities. The schools interested in having speakers contact the universities directly and they coordinate the conferences offered by the professors from their institutions.
The FPH’s services can be requested by filling out the appropriate form and sending it to our institution.
REGIONAL CENTERS
The Endowment has a network of institutions around the Island that serves as a link with our offices in San Juan. The Regional Centers are cultural entities located in various communities around the Island that receive and make available to the public the Endowment’s wide variety of resources. The Centers are in charge of creating a variety of humanities projects in the regions they serve. Among other resources, they rely on a representative sample of the audiovisual collection to offer on loan to the public they serve. Forms and general information about the programs and services offered by the Endowment can be obtained by contacting the Centers.
